Campanula Lace Mitts

I finished my Campanula Mitts after Knitters' Night Out at Heavenly Creations last week. I actually started these last fall, after receiving the yarn in a swap package from the lovely Catherine at Mama Llama Yarn.

Campanula Mitts (Ravlink):

(This last one is just for fun, it was washed out so I played with it a bit and got this)

Specs:
Yarn: Noro Silver Thaw Colorway "1"
Needles: Size 7
Pattern: Campanula Mitts by Sara Morris
Thoughts: It was a nicely written pattern, easy to follow with a nice end result.
Mods: Well there are a few, and since I didn't write anything down (other than the number of stitches I cast on) the two mitts didn't end up exactly the same. That's okay, though you can't really tell when I'm wearing them. I had a larger gauge so I only cast on 30 stitches, and I did fewer gusset increases. I think I did fewer lace repeats also.

So, I finished Campanula Mitts, Hey, Teach!, and Ishbel all in one week. I went a little crazy casting on some new projects, although not all of them have succeeded. I'm working on Decimal (which I technically cast on during spring break, but I didn't get much further than the ribbing on the sleeve).

I also cast on some Man Socks, with some Fortissima and some Brown Sheep fingering. They're going well. The Man Socks (Ravlink) don't have a pattern, I just started in 1X1 rib and transitioned into 3X1 rib. Hopefully I'll have enough yarn for size 13 feet. I only have one ball of the main color (tan). I think I may have made the leg too long, but we'll see. They might have really long blue toes. ;-)

Don't forget about my contest! Comments here count too. ;-) I thought, though, I'd pose a question for those who knit socks (so you don't just have to leave an "Oh, I like ****!" comment ;-]) What kind of heel do you prefer? Why?

Gee, I feel silly now for never knitting socks. But I guess from what I've read on the subject the peasant heel would be best because I'd contstanly be replacing them. I'm just really tough on socks.

Oh, flap and gusset heel, for sure! I think it's also called a round heel. With heel stitch or eye of partridge stitch.

I'm not a sock knitter either, so I hope I'm allowed to say those mitts are sa-weeeet!

Those mitts are *hella* gorgeous.

For sock heels, I prefer toe-up gusset and no-pick-up heel, as in the Baudelaire socks I'm doing right now. For top down I like the standard slip-stitch heel flap and gusset, but it takes so darn long I get bored. Wears well, though.

Re your comment on my blog... I smell a Summer's End knitalong. :D

Oooh, it'd be nice in Silk Road Aran! And don't worry. If you're talking knitting ADD, I'm up there with the best of them. Look at my poor Wisteria sweater, haha.

The Goron temple in Phantom Hourglass was actually pretty easy, though the end boss was a biotch. I am envious of your Wii. Someday, Nintendo...
