So, in the blogging tradition, I'm going to offer a contest with a sweet prize.
You see, I finished my Ishbel the other day. It's beautiful. I love it. Unfortunately it ended up being a little small. Well, small for me anyhow. This was for several reasons.
- I used a smaller needle size
- I didn't realize the scarf size was written for fingering weight, not lace weight
- I have a thick neck. No, really. I almost never buy commercial necklaces because I know they'll fit like chokers. A 20" chain hits me where an 18" chain hits most people.
The prize is, then, my lovely, gorgeous, soft, mmMalabrigo Ishbel*. I will also be including a skein of mmmMalabrigo worsted in Pearl Ten so you can make yourself a matching accessory (Maybe a beret or fingerless gloves?).
Heeeere's Ishbel!:
Stats:
Yarn: Malabrigo Lace (Merino Wool) in Pearl Ten, about 2/3 of the skein
Needle: Size 5 24" circ
Pattern: Ishbel by Ysolda Teagues from the collection Whimsical Little Knits
Thoughts: This was an easy pattern to follow. I find that Ysolda is always thorough in her instructions and pattern lay out/charts and this was no different.
Mods: A couple. I used a smaller needle and to compensate for that I increased to the shawl proportions on the stockinette triangle and followed the lace instructions for the scarf version.
So what's the contest?
Leave a comment on this post (With a way to contact you, your blogger account is fine), and any posts between now and next Friday, April 24th. Next Saturday, April 25th, I will number the comments and use a random number generator to pick the winner!
Another gratuitous picture of the prize with, I think, the best representation of the color:
Good luck everyone! ;-)
*Just for clarification, it is scarf sized, not shawl sized.

Happy blogaversary! Ishbel looks beautiful and I'd love to be entered to win it!
Such a beautiful piece! Thanks for the chance...
Oh my gosh, I can't believe you are giving away such goodness! I envy your courage!!
Also thought you would be amused that when I was reading "Pearl Ten" got automatically converted in my brain to "Pearl Jam" Yep, no kidding. I blame my co-workers because we were talking about our fav 'old school' bands, LOL!
By the way, are you still keeping up with your workouts? haven't heard anything lately.....
(previously deleted so I could edit out my idiocracy. Now my comment is acceptable for consumption!)
Happy Blogversary!! That's a beautiful piece and who doesn't love mmMalabrigo

((there is a contact form on my website))
Aww I'm sorry it didn't come out like you hoped. :( It's very pretty, though!
Happy Blogaversary!!! I've been dying to knit Ishbel myself, but with a newborn my knit time is limited to say the least. Crossing my fingers!!! Congrats on the Blogaversary!
Happy Blogaversary!
Your shawl is gorgeous.
Ohhhh, that is gorgeous! Love the lace and the color. Happy blogaversary!!
Wow, that's gorgeous! I can't believe you are going to give it away!
PS My word verification is "forsherp". That belongs on the VLT, we just need to come up with a definition!
Happy blogaversary! Beautiful knitting on the shawl!! Can't believe it goes to a new home. Just lovely!
Congrats on the Blogaversary! Your Ishbel is lovely, and yet I fear it. Imagine me winning that fabulous yarn and at the same time an example of what could be made with that yarn, if I only had the skill. But that doesn't mean I don't want to win.
Beautiful work on the Ishbel, and I love the color. If I won, I'm sure Mom would love the scarf and I could make myself something manly with the yarn. Who am I kidding, she'd want a hat or gloves to match.
yipee for blogiversaries!! happy happy. love seeing all of the fos. have a great week :)
It's beautiful! Happy Blogaversary!

Ishbel is still beautiful! Please take me out of the running for her, though. I saw one too many gorgeous Ishbels on the web, and now I have the pattern and some beautiful blue laceweight and am going to knit my very own.
