I've spent a couple of hours recharting the charts in the book, because A) They're tiny, and B) He uses black and white, which is fine, but the black goes over the lines so it's really hard to see how many stitches there are in the black sections when it's more than like 3 or so. I used an online FREE charting system, found here. Yeah, Google! When I was done, I took a screen shot and saved it in paint as a jpeg.
Aha! After Googling for an image, I found another person who made it. Her flickr ID is AngierAnne, these photos are NOT MINE.
The tassels on the original are multi-colored, and so is the draw-string top. I think the draw string is braided, although it also kind of looks like i-cord (Would they have known how to make i-cord?!). There are also tassels on the draw-string.
Even though those colors are bright, they're the right ones, but the Lion row is supposed to be beige with red, and the rosette row is supposed to be red with light blue. The red is reversed in both rows. The middle of green/white is also reversed. Also on the original there are 3 rows of the lion/shield motif and 2 of the rosette/shield motif. Although, now that I think of it, the book only shows one side and the other side very well could be in reverse.
Anywho, not much else going on. I started reading Heart of Darkness.
Ciao.

Wow, the bag looks really complicated, but it will be so cool when it's done! I still can't believe you have a class where you can knit for the final project. You're so lucky!
