I've been knitting

A fair amount.

I've made progress on the noro mittens:




As you can see I'm ready to start the fingers. I alread knitted the first one, but I had to rip it out because I have fat fingers and the finger was too small.



I took these photos the day before yesterday, so this is my Fidget then:

It's currently finished and waiting to be blocked. I also need to find buttons for it (2 to be precise). I decided not to fashion it the way the pattern called for, it's going to stand up around my neck. You'll see in a day or so when it's completely finished.

I also recieved the yarn for my Chur-Relic Purse. I cast on and knit one row the day it came. That took almost an hour and a half. 336 stitches in this bag. I thought I was going to magic loop the bag, but my 40" size 1 needle is just the right size for it. This bag is going to take a lot longer than I was planning on.. >.>

I've also been reading for class. I started July's People by Nadine Gordimer, and The Autobiography of a Brown Buffalo by Oscar Zeta Acosta. July's People is very well written and I'm enjoying it so far, but The Autobiography of the Brown Buffalo is grotesque. Well the main character is. It's going to be interesting talking about it in class.

That class, BTW, I am not super fond of the way the teacher is running it. We spent 3 class periods talking about And The Earth Did Not Devour Him. Granted, it was a good book, but it was only 80 pages, and he assigned 7 novels this quarter. Why are we spending a week and a half on this book? Seriously.

Also, I hated The Heart of Darkness. Okay, I didn't hate it, but it was really difficult to read.

In other news, the BF and I are seriously looking into moving to Portland, Oregon.

Why?

Change of scenery? New beginnings? It's a cool place? Yes to all of these. I don't know where I'm headed job wise when I graduate, so going to Portland seems like as good a place as any to forge into the working world.

But I don't graduate until the end of December, so we'll see.
